Cleaning Coldstream FTO+ filters and vat cleaning

To ensure tasteless water and remove any manufacturing residue (such as ceramic particles), please follow this detailed protocol:

Cleaning Coldstream FTO+ filters before installation

  • 1. Initial preparation:

    • Rinse each filter under the cold running water for 2 minutes.
    • Use a soft dishwashing sponge or a slightly rough microfiber to gently clean the outer surface of the filters. This makes it possible to remove any residue dust without damaging the ceramic.
  • 2. Installation of filters:

    • Carefully screw the filters into the upper vat of your system.
    • Make sure the silicone washers are properly positioned to prevent leakage.

Rinsing of the complete system

  • 1. First filtration cycles:

    • Fill the top vat with clear water.
    • Let the water filter through entirely into the lower vat.

Important: Throw away this water after each cycle, as it may contain particles from filter manufacturing.

  • 2. Number of recommended cycles:

Repeat this process for 5 to 6 complete cycles (about 30 to 36 liters for a 6L or 9L system). This ensures that all manufacturing process residues are removed.

Cleaning vats

  • 1. Upper and lower vat:

    • Carefully clean the vats with a soft sponge or a microfiber cloth and warm soapy water.
    • Rinse the vats thoroughly to remove any traces of soap or residue.
  • 2. Frequency of cleaning:

Clean the lower vats once a month or so if you observe deposits or residues.

Important note on ceramic residues

The ceramic residue observed in the first filtration cycles is not harmful to health. These inert particles arise during the filter manufacturing process and are completely safe for human consumption.

Once these steps are completed, your filtered water will be clean, without taste or residue.
